At Rockdale Park Kindergarten we value and respect every mokopuna and their whānau and endeavour to support developing a sense of belonging, by respecting diversity and fostering relationships with each other. Alongside whānau, we aspire for ākonga/learners to develop a strong sense of mana and to become confident, competent explorers, problem solvers, decision-makers and kaitiaki. A sense of wonder, curiosity and creativity is fostered, discovering the extraordinary in the ordinary.

    • Strong relationships with whānau and community

    • Māori and Pasifika cultures are valued, and we participate in local events

    • Very attractive natural indoor and outdoor environments

    • We view mokopuna as capable and competent citizens, they are the decision makers, problem solvers, and kaiako are guided and inspired by mokopuna interests and passions.

Our environments are inspired by nature; well-resourced and loose parts are what is used to support imagination and creativity – as they are open-ended/endless possibilities.

We participate in local cultural events such as Polyfest and value the contribution of whānau to enhance our performance and our art installations. We celebrate mokopuna mahi and art with the wider hāpori. If possible, we will enter events that celebrate mokopuna art – eg. art exhibitions; art competitions, etc. We are committed to ensuring we meet our responsibilities under Te Tiriti o Waitangi and draw inspiration from a te ao Māori perspective and the 100 Languages of Reggio Emilia.

Kaiako role model and support mokopuna to work in groups. Kaiako support mokopuna to recognise their superpowers and those of others. Tuakana teina is a concept used to support mokopuna to help their peers.

To find out more about our ataahua kindergarten and meet the kaiako, please feel free to pop in anytime or contact us via phone or email.
