Newfield Kindergarten is a place where tamariki experience fun and they are celebrated to express themselves freely. Tamariki develop the skills to be curious and try new things, find interests, develop talents, be creative and expressive. Tamariki learn through trial and error, using their imagination, being curious and problem-solving.

We have a welcoming whānau community and a supportive environment for all tamariki. We operate a Kaitiaki Kaiako system where all tamariki have a key teacher who supports them and their families and welcomes them into our kindergarten. This provides a single point of contact for new whānau and supports tamariki settling into the programme and during key moments, such as toileting, routines and getting to know their interests.

At Newfield, nga kaiako nurture and guide tamariki and their whānau to have the best possible learning outcomes, building trusting, caring, warm, respectful relationships for all.

Our outdoor environment is full of native plants, located to catch the sun and is sheltered from the wind. We have multiple different play areas outside, a huge sandpit and lovely quiet spaces. We provide lots of motor skill opportunities and challenges for tamariki in their play, with swings, slides, climbing and running space. Social and emotional development is key learning for our tamariki and we focus on play that leads children to be challenged, creative, innovative, socially skilled and happy individuals.

Our kindergarten is a whānau. We are a multicultural kindergarten inclusive of diversity. Everyone is viewed as a taonga and their contribution is valued. We participate in Polyfest each year and ensure that our performance incorporates the diverse whānau that we have at Newfield.

You are welcome to come in and visit at any time. The jug is always on for a hot drink. Come and see what we can offer your tamariki at Newfield Kindergarten.

My name is Anna Milnes-Win and I stand tall and proud in Invercargill. I have three adult children, Hone, Hope, Tamsin and one grandchild. I am very excited to be part of the kindergarten whānau.

I have a long, extensive and very happy career in education spanning nearly 24 years! I was the first student in Waihopai to gain my Graduate Diploma in Early Childhood Education. I have worked across all levels of teaching including kindergarten, all aspects of ECE, training ECE Teachers at a tertiary level and secondary teaching at Aurora College, Invercargill.

I love working with tamariki and am proud to be welcomed into the Newfield whānau.
