Grasmere Kindergarten

Grasmere Kindergarten is situated on the corner of Heywood and Paterson Streets in the heart of Grasmere. Our learning environment is unhurried, creating a calm place of learning. We provide an environment which nurtures respectful relationships through a sense of whanaungatanga, relationships with everyone.

We see the learning of tamariki as a partnership between the kindergarten, the whānau and the community. Tamariki learn through play and kaiako strive to build meaningful reciprocal relationships. We have tamariki as young as two years old, and our older tamariki enjoy playing with, and teaching our younger tamariki about our kindy kaupapa (rules), and routines, demonstrating tuakana/teina in action. We have a diverse range of cultures within our kindergarten whānau and we embrace this diversity and the uniqueness that comes with it.

Our indoor environment is an inviting space for tamariki to learn, imagine, wonder, explore, and create. Our outdoor environment is similar to a park-like setting with natural play areas, that enables endless opportunities for fun and learning.
