Bluff Kindergarten is located at the heart of our port town, in close proximity to both local schools. Our catchment area also includes children from the rural surrounds of Bluff.

We pride ourselves in the maori concept of Whanaungatangata (relationships), creating a warm, comfortable environment and mauri for everyone who comes to our kindergarten.

We strive to instil a sense of mana and pride in our tamariki, supporting them to create a sense of wellbeing and identify within the community and whanau, as well as a sense of belonging to their kindergarten.

Whanau and community are central to our philosophy and the programme that we offer.

We believe learning should be an adventure and we strive to provide our tamariki with quality resources and an ever-changing stimulating environment to learn in. We also incorporate current technology to guide and support our practice.

We run a playgroup on Thursday mornings which is open to all families with pre-schoolers.

We have a large, exciting outdoor play area for tamariki to play in and explore.

Our daily sessions also include a supplied lunch for the tamariki each day, paid for out of our equity fund. This fund also pays the fees for all excursions we go on and the purchase of extra equipment for our kindergarten.

We have a short waiting list and generally children aged three and over can be placed in a reasonably short time.

At Drummond Kindergarten we embrace our rural location and embrace our natural environment in all areas of our programme.

Our teaching team are committed to providing a welcoming, fun, relaxed and nurturing environment rich in positive interactions.

We encourage children to have fun and to be socially competent, independent and capable decision makers confident in their abilities to communicate and interact with others. Children are empowered to have a positive attitude towards learning; they are challenged to think creatively, ask questions and make decisions that will promote learning and provoke enquiry.

Our art room is a dedicated creative space where children can be creative, hands-on learners. In the art room children have the opportunity to express themselves, take risks, problem solve and to create and revisit their creations with the support and encouragement of teachers, following the Reggio Emilia approach.

We value the input of our community and offer many opportunities for families and whanau to contribute to their child’s learning.

Elsie Street Kindergarten is the largest kindergarten in Gore. Our philosophy is to support children with a fun and play-based programme which encourages tuakana-teina (buddy) relationships.

Our natural outdoor environment enables children to explore and challenge themselves. We also have a special focus on active movement and offer planned activities for this.

We have a nature education programme called Nui Ferns, where we take our eldest ten children to Dolamore Park on Tuesdays and Thursdays for exploration and adventures in nature.

We have strong connections and involvement with the local community. Members of the Lions Club visit weekly to read stories to our children and help them look after our vegetable garden. We get involved in community events and are also lucky to receive support from parents, whanau and the local business community for our events, as well as donations of materials and resources.

We also provide support to students studying towards a degree in Early Childhood Teaching.

If you are interested in enrolling your child in Elsie Street Kindergarten, please contact us to make a time to come along to meet our team and see our kindergarten in action. Due to our long waiting list, we recommend you enrol your child on their second birthday.

Elston Lea Kindergarten

Elston Lea Kindergarten has a large park-like playground which encourages children’s imaginations, physical fitness and social skills. Being surrounded in beautiful plants and native birds helps them to learn about nature and how to care for it.

We have a strong focus on healthy eating. Children grow vegetables in our veggie garden and tunnel house, and then make their own food each day as part of our baking programme. These initiatives have seen us awarded the highest level of the Healthy Heart Award.

We also provide an art-rich programme where all children are encouraged to extend their creativity through both visual arts and music.

Our teachers have all participated in the Incredible Years programme and use the philosophies from this to ensure the best possible outcomes for all our tamariki. We are inspired by the preschools of Reggio Emilia and see children as competent, confident learners who explore and discover the world in groups.

We have families/whanau from many different cultures and are passionate about making these cultures part of our place.

Parents and whanau are most welcome to visit at any time and see what happens at our kindergarten.
